In the early 1990s the talk of the supercar world was the Bugatti EB110, a completely new Franco-Italian challenger that offered ground breaking technology and performance to eclipse the Porsche 959, Ferrari F40 and Jaguar XJ220. For those demanding even more, however, Bugatti offered the lighter, more powerful Super Sport version, of which just a handful (30 production cars) were ever made, one of which was famously destined for young F1 hopeful Michael Schumacher.
This is one of those ultra rare Super Sport models and the only one produced in green. Delivered new to Belgium and acquired in 2000 by a prominent Italian Bugattiste with just 300km recorded, it was collected in Belgium and driven by road to Milan by Gianni Sighinolfi, one of the original key personnel of the EB110 project and head of the assembly line in Campogalliano. Mr Sighinolfi, who now heads servicing at EB110 specialist B Engineering, remembers that it drove superbly and in that trip alone he doubled the mileage covered from new. Chassis ‘39019’ has remained in its second ownership ever since and now shows just 12,535 accident-free kilometres. It is preserved in 'almost new' condition, and retains all original owners manuals and accessories. Here, then, is a distinctive and well cared-for example of an appreciating modern supercar which can be enjoyed on the road, shown at events or simply admired in your motor house.
