The Lamborghini Miura is today regarded as one of the greatest cars in motoring history, owing nothing to contemporary Ferraris in terms of its standing in the collectors world and arguably their superior when comparing looks, drama and the driving experience. There will never again be a time when a Miura is not highly sought after, when it is underappreciated. The future of these cars looks as bright as ever as new generations discover them.
This example, chassis ‘4030’, is one of the evolutionary S models which incorporate various improvements over the original Miura P400 including reinforced chassis, slightly wider tyres, engine tweaks and revisions to the cockpit. Externally the S is recognizable thanks to chrome window surrounds in place of black whilst retaining the delicate eyelashes over the headlamps which were lost on the final SV. Some prefer the agility and lightness of the S compared to later cars, and they certainly look good value. This Miura S has spent its entire life in Italy, its early years in Genova and latterly Rome, and is offered for the first time since the 1980s, when acquired by the present family who have cared for it cosmetically but barely driven it at all. As such, it has never required nor received major mechanical work, merely being checked over and the carburettors overhauled some years ago. The coachwork, which was originally orange (‘Rosso Miura’) with black trim, is now Giallo Fly following a bare metal repaint early in the present ownership. The original cooling fans have been replaced for more efficient ones but the originals are supplied with the car. The odometer indicates 58,177km which the condition of the original interior suggests is correct. The car has its Italian libretto registration document and ASI homologation.
