1959 BMW 507 Series II Roadster

BMW’s iconic 507 is one of the rarest, most beautiful and most sought-after convertible sports cars of the post-war era, Germany’s answer to the Ferrari 250GT California Spyder. Just 252 were built between 1956 and 1959 and, with a price tag of over $10,000 (a Porsche could be had for less than half as much) it was always destined for a select clientele: celebrities Ursula Andress and Elvis Presley and racing drivers Hans Stuck and John Surtees were amongst them, although the latters was a gift from a racing patron which he’s never sold.

The Series II version provided welcome additional space for passengers by re-locating the fuel tank and is acknowledged as the one to have. This example, one of the last 8 cars to leave the factory, is probably the best BMW 507 available. A three owner car well-known to BMW Classic, the factory’s respected heritage centre, it features Rudge knock-off wheels, hard top, a superb original colour scheme and a restoration to the highest standard by acknowledged BMW V8 gurus Martin and Erwin Brummer near Munich. We’ve had the pleasure of sampling this car for some 30km including a high speed run on the Autobahn and can vouch that it drives every bit as well as it looks.

Every world class collection should feature a BMW 507; here is the perfect opportunity to own an exemplary one. It is German registered so ready to enjoy without further ado.
