The Spanish Connection

by Simon Kidston

This is the Big One. Half a century has passed today since a young Ferruccio Lamborghini unveiled his daring new supercar to a disbelieving public at the Geneva Show in March 1966. It became the motoring sensation of the era, eclipsing anything else on the road for style, speed and showmanship. From its groundbreaking early days, through to the models final development and its sudden end which coincided, appropriately, with Ferruccio selling his company, the Miura has earned its place in motoring history.

A decade ago we gathered 'bon vivant' Miura owners to join an inaugural, invitation-only 40th anniversary tour from Gstaad to Monte Carlo. This gastronomic motoring extravaganza was followed five years later by an equally sociable 45th anniversary Miura tour through the Maremma region of Tuscany taking in the island of Elba.

Jeremy Corbyn and Bernie Sanders' worst nightmare

For the 50th anniversary we had to do something special, so we again turned to the 'dream team' of motoring events, Costantino Franchi, Franco Majno and Valentina Croce's '2Fast4You' which has created bespoke rallies for Lamborghini, Bugatti and private collectors around the world after two decades organizing the Mille Miglia. This is our vision of the ultimate Miura Tour, celebrating the ancient land from which the car took its name, open roads which do justice to its performance, and epic settings which are worth taking a few days from your busy schedules to enjoy. It's intended as a civilised way to have fun with your Miura amongst like-minded people, not a commercial event, so let us know if you'd like a place sooner rather than later.

PS. Maximum 25 cars. Priority will be given to non-vegetarian, non-teetotal owners with a good sense of humour!

The 50th Anniversary Tour is set in real Miura Country
