1988 Porsche 959

Delivered on 31st May 1988 by Porsche in Stuttgart, this 959 has had three owners from new, the first in Belgium, the second in the UK and the third a well-known collector based in Switzerland. Liveried in classic silver with the model’s trademark triple grey leather interior, it has covered 42,500km from new  and has the advantage of careful and regular use so avoiding the well known problems which affect 959s that have been stored for long periods or little used.

Recent service work includes new front and rear dampers and replacement of all accumulators (the self levelling additional hydraulic dampers) as well as the fitment of a discreet CD player (compatible with the original Blaupunkt stereo system) with changer under the front bonnet. The car has recently undergone a complete check over and major 40,000 km service carried out at Porsche Stuttgart, including four new Bridgestone tyres, replacement alternator and water pump. The car is UK registered (EU tax paid) and the service book is stamped from new.
Upgraded, as in this example, the performance is a match for almost any other supercar which has been manufactured in the 20 or so years since the 959 appeared. In collectors’ terms, its landmark technological features, other worldly performance and racing pedigree surely promise the Porsche 959 as special a place in motoring history as the iconic Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing of the previous generation.
