1961 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Roadster
There’s never been a time when the Mercedes-Benz 300SL wasn’t a special car; the sign of a true classic. Handsome, beautifully built, technically advanced and, of course, endowed with almost race car levels of performance (a stripped out roadster known as the SLS even contested the American SCCA championship), the 300SL roadster was, is and will almost certainly remain one of the greats of motoring history. For those in any doubt a quick look at the evolution of auction prices will confirm their stature and the direction in which values are heading.
From a private German collection focused on high performance landmark cars ranging from a Miura SV to a Veyron Supersport, this immaculately presented 1961 model 300SL Roadster will satisfy the most demanding connoisseur: it features factory disc brakes, hard and soft tops, luggage (although the smaller case is not present) and European headlights. Restored for the previous owner, a German lawyer, by Lars Rombelsheim, the car has covered approximately 18,000km since then and is maintained in show condition. It is German registered so EU taxes are paid; the car needs nothing except a keen driver.
